Tech truths

Home Button Pairing: The Touch ID sensor in the home button is paired to the phone's logic board at the factory. During a screen replacement the factory button has to be moved to the new screen. A replacement button will work as a home button but cannot restore Touch ID.

3D Touch Layer: 3D Touch works through tiny pressure sensors built into the backlight. A cheap replacement screen may leave 3D Touch out or make it unreliable, which is one of the first things we test after a repair.
