Do Aftermarket iPhone Screens Drain Your Battery? An Honest Answer By Screen Type
The Short Answer
It depends on the screen type. On iPhones that came with OLED, an LCD replacement can use more power with the screen on, because an LCD lights the whole panel with a backlight. OLED pixels make their own light, and black pixels are off.
Our Tiers
- Standard (iTruColor Soft OLED on most OLED iPhones): OLED behaves like the factory screen type for power.
- Economy (iTruColor LCD on OLED-native models): a solid everyday screen at a fair price. Expect a bit more screen-on drain.
- Budget (Basic LCD, select models; 90Hz on 13 Pro and newer Pro models): our lowest-cost screen, with a 1-year warranty against defects on undamaged parts.

How To Check
Settings > Battery: compare screen-on and background usage. High background drain points to apps or the battery, not the screen.
