💧 What the Alert Means
Your iPhone checks the pins in its charging port. If it senses moisture, it stops charging through the cable to protect the phone. The alert can also show up if the cable or accessory is wet.
✅ What to Do
- Unplug the cable from your phone and from the wall.
- Tap the phone gently with the port facing down to get water out.
- Leave it in a dry spot with some airflow.
- Wait at least 30 minutes, then try charging again. It can take up to 24 hours to dry fully.
If your iPhone supports wireless charging, you can use it once the back is dry.

🚫 What Not to Do
- Don't use a hair dryer or any heat.
- Don't blow compressed air into the port.
- Don't push a cotton swab or paper towel into the port.
- Don't put the phone in rice. Small bits can get stuck in the port.
The alert has an Emergency Override option. Use it only in a real emergency, since charging a wet port can cause corrosion.
🔍 When the Alert Won't Clear
If the phone is dry and the alert keeps coming back, something else is going on:
- Lint and dirt. Packed pocket lint can trigger it. Port cleaning is free with any repair.
- Corrosion. Old moisture can leave green or white buildup on the pins.
- A worn charging port. Damaged pins may need a new charging port.
