AI Agent Ideas For Personal Use: Choose Your Bots

5 min read

The best AI agent ideas for personal use start with your own week, not someone else's setup: find the jobs you repeat, then give each one its own bot.

My business runs on five bots: content, design, secretary, accountant and research. People see that and ask, "So I just copy your five?"

Please don't.

My five bots were built around one thing: a home-based iPhone repair shop. None of them plans a family trip. None tracks a home warranty or helps a kid study for a test. Even for my own life outside the shop, they cover maybe a third of what I deal with.

The right setup depends on where your time actually goes. Here's the simple test I'd use to pick your first bot, when to add a second, and the mistake that makes people give up in the first week.

Start With Where Your Time Goes

List the three tasks that eat your week. The one that's most repetitive is your first Bot's job.

One Job Per Bot

The docs recommend focused Bots over one catch-all, and a separate Bot when work has its own goal, tools, approval boundary or schedule (source).

When To Add Another

When one Bot's job keeps getting split in two, that's your sign.

The Mistake That Makes People Quit

Asking for everything on day one. Start with one task, make it reliable, save it as a skill, then automate it (source).

Bots Can Hand Off Work

One Bot can message another, and you see the handoff in the conversation (source). My content bot hands drafts to my design bot this way.

Why This Matters To Me

I was an overworked and overwhelmed one-person shop trying to run a six-figure business alone, because hiring here is so expensive. Grok Bot helped me accomplish things I never thought were possible. Pick bots for your own week, the way I did for mine. The full story starts in How To Set Up An AI Assistant With Grok Bot.

This post shares my own experience and opinions running Franchitti's Fix. Franchitti's Fix isn't affiliated with or endorsed by xAI or Midjourney. Product names belong to their owners. Features and plans change, so check each company's current docs. AI makes mistakes, so review its work.

Want To Talk Shop?

I'm Steve, and I run Franchitti's Fix, a home-based, by-appointment iPhone repair shop in San Diego. Questions about bots, or an iPhone that needs fixing? Book An Appointment, or read more about me.
