Guide 8a · Connectivity
Self-Fix Guide • Wi-Fi & BluetoothWi-Fi cutting out or earbuds disconnecting? It's often a setting or the router, not the phone. Start with the easy steps.
Works on: iPhone 6s and newer on a current iOS. On older iOS, the reset menu is under Settings > General > Reset.
Step 1: Turn It Off And On
- Open Settings and make sure Airplane Mode is off.
- Tap Wi-Fi, turn it off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Do the same for Bluetooth.
Wi-Fi switch is gray? Restart the phone.
Step 2: Check The Router Or Device
- Do other phones or laptops connect? If not, the router is the problem.
- Unplug the router and modem for 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
- For Bluetooth, charge the earbuds or speaker and move them closer.
Step 3: Forget And Rejoin
- In Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the small i next to your network.
- Tap Forget This Network, then join it again with the password.
For Bluetooth: in Settings > Bluetooth, tap the i next to the device, tap Forget This Device, then pair it again.
Step 4: Remove VPN Or Security Apps
If you use a VPN or security app, uninstall it, restart, and test.
Step 5: Update iOS
Open Settings > General > Software Update and install anything shown.
Step 6: Reset Network Settings
Keeps photos and apps. Clears saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings and VPN settings.
- Open Settings and tap General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone, then tap Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings and enter your passcode.
- Rejoin Wi-Fi and pair Bluetooth devices again.
Careful: don't tap Erase All Content and Settings on that screen. That one erases the phone.
If It Still Drops
Still not fixed? It may be hardware. I can check it and refer board-level work to a microsoldering specialist.
