What is Claude good for? Anthropic calls it an AI assistant for work: hand off tasks, turn ideas into decks, prototypes and financial models, and run scheduled tasks across your apps and files.
I only list what each company says on its own site. I don't quote prices; check each official page for current plans.

Where Grok Bot Fits For Me
Scheduled work is what Grok Bot routines do in my shop: they run in the cloud while my laptop is closed (source).
Which Apps It Connects To
A connector is a link you approve that lets an AI tool look at, or sometimes make changes in, another app you use, like your email or calendar.
Apps And Access At A Glance
| App | Browser Sign-In | Read-Only | Read + Write | API Keys | What It Can Do |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Connectors (Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Linear) | – | Partial | Partial | Partial | Uses the same permissions you have in each app. Team and Enterprise owners can set each tool to always allow, needs approval or blocked, for example read email but block sending. Custom connectors can send a fixed API key. |
Browser sign-in is the safest start: you see everything it does. Read-only lets it look but not change. Read and write lets it act for you, so pick ask-first settings. API keys are secret codes for other programs, so keep them private.
Quick Safety Tips
- Give the least access that does the job. Pick ask-first or read-only settings when you can.
- Remove access you no longer use:
- Claude: Customize, then Connectors, then disconnect. Anthropic says to disconnect services you no longer need.
How To Get An API Key
An API key is a private password that lets one app use another app's AI. In examples we write it as YOUR_API_KEY. Never use a real key in a guide or screenshot.
An environment variable is a private setting on your computer where a program can read the key, so it isn't written into your code.
Anthropic
- Create a key in the Claude Console.
- Store it in an environment variable or a .env file listed in .gitignore.
- Use separate keys for testing and live use, and set spend limits.
- To delete a key: platform.claude.com/settings/keys, the three-dot menu, Delete API key.
Anthropic suggests rotating on a schedule, for example every 90 days.
Slack
- Slack tokens come from installing an app.
- Ask only for the smallest set of permissions (scopes) the app needs, and review them regularly.
- Store tokens in a .env file during testing and a secrets manager when live. Never put them in public code.
- You can limit which IP addresses can use a token under OAuth And Permissions.
Turn on token rotation so tokens renew and expire on their own, and revoke tokens when someone removes the app.
Zapier
- The easiest way is to sign in to Zapier from inside your AI app. There is no key to manage.
- Or create a server at mcp.zapier.com and generate a connection token. It is shown only once.
- Treat the token like a password. Give each person their own server and token.
- To rotate: MCP dashboard, your server, Settings, API token, Rotate token.
Rotating cuts off the old token immediately, so update your apps first.
Keep Your Key Safe
- Store the key privately, in an environment variable or a secrets manager.
- Use the narrowest scope or permissions the job needs.
- Revoke it and make a new one regularly.
Estimated usage: our rough guide, not an official figure. Est. Usage: Low quick one-off asks; Est. Usage: Medium multi-step tasks or short research; Est. Usage: High long research, many tool calls, browser work or daily routines.
How Grok Bot Usage Works
Franchitti's Fix is run by Steve with help from Grok Bot, so here's the plain version of how its usage works.
- Your Plan Includes A Usage Allowance. Paid plans come with included usage that refreshes every week. Higher-tier plans include more. Unused usage doesn't roll over. (Source)
- Bigger Jobs Use More. In general, long research, tasks that use lots of tools and routines running in the background do more work, so they draw down the allowance faster than a quick question.
- Light Settings Stretch It. Lower effort for simple jobs, fewer and less frequent routines and short, focused requests all help the allowance last. See How To Regulate Grok Bot Usage.
- Checking Your Usage. In Grok Bot, open Settings, then Usage & Billing. On The X Subscription, you can also check Usage at grok.com/dashboard, which shows the weekly pool, the next reset date and any prepaid credit. (Source)
