iPhone Battery Health Below 80%: When to Replace It

San Diego Repair Guide • iPhone Battery Health

Open Settings, tap Battery, then Battery Health. If your number is below 80%, your battery is worn out and your iPhone is likely holding back on speed to protect itself. Here's what that means and when to replace it.

⚡ Battery dying by lunch?

Franchitti's Fix is at 4515 Texas St (92116), open 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily. Call or text (720) 413-8150, book an appointment, or send us a message.

🔋 What Battery Health Below 80% Means

Battery health compares your battery's capacity today with when it was new. Below 80%, iOS often shows a "Service" message and may slow the phone to stop surprise shutdowns.

We see this most on iPhones that are two to four years old, like an iPhone 12 that needs a charger by mid-afternoon or an iPhone 14 Pro that shuts off in the cold.

⚠️ Signs It's Time to Replace Your Battery

  • Battery Health at or below 80%, or a "Service" message
  • Shutting down at 20–30%
  • Lag when opening the camera or apps
  • Phone gets hot while charging
  • A swollen battery pushing the screen up. Stop using it and bring it in.

We're at 4515 Texas St, on the North Park and Normal Heights border near Adams Ave, a short trip from University Heights, Kensington, and City Heights.
